The video of the Studio Six Fire was so popular it caused the website to go down Sunday. The website and video is now available once again. To prevent this from happening in the future, all video files will be uploaded to Google. Cliicking on the link on the Hotshot page will now take you to Google Video's.

The new Smithville Fire Department expansion is nearing completion. Projections are that in May the building will be completed. The upstairs includes a large day use area, training/banquet room, kitchen, sleeping quarters, and the most important thing for firefighters - a brass pole. The pole will allow firefighters on the second floor to quickly slide down to the ground floor.

The SMITHVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT was founded in 1938 with a mission to protect the citizens of Smithville and DeKalb County.

We are a volunteer department with a ISO rating of Class 7.
Currently we are preparing to lower that rating with our expanded facilities and plans to move to a full-time status in the near future.

Over 90% of the departments firefighters have graduated from the Tennessee Fire Codes Academy and are licensed as Emergency Medical professionals.
